Monday Night Stoltz Group Meeting Schedule 2004-2005

(updated 6/16/04)

„Meetings will take place at 8 PM in 147 Noyes.

„The presenter is responsible for all audio visual needs (i.e.., reserving and picking up a projector/laptop) and a mechanism problem (please deposit the mechanism and the answer in the appropriate folder on the server (server/group items/things for Brian/mechanisms/semester folder).

„We will start group meetings again on Monday September 27, 2004 with a research meeting.  From then on, we will mostly alternate between Literature and research talks.  We will add new group members to the list once they have joined permanently.  The research and job talks are supposed to be formal presentations and should be highly professional, well thought out, well planned, and practiced presentations.  Please make copies of your slides for everyone.  Also, please deposit an electronic copy of your slides (and slide compilation file-see below) onto the group server in the appropriate folder (server/group items/things for Brian/group meetings/semester folder).

Slide Formats:

„Literature talks:

Use the "Tuesday Seminar Slides-BMS" settings in chemdraw on a MacIntosh.  Use Chem Draw 8.0 or higher.  Please compile these in Powerpoint by copy and paste methods from the original ChemDraw files.  Do all resizing within the Powerpoint program.  For the presentation please use powerpoint.

„Research Talks:

Use the "slides-bms" settings in Chem draw on a MacIntosh.  Use Chem Draw 8.0 or higher.  Please compile these in Powerpoint by copy and paste methods from the original ChemDraw files.  Do all resizing within the Powerpoint program.  For the presentation please use powerpoint.

„Job Talks:

All slides should be prepared in the "slides-bms" format.  This includes all previous and current work.  Most likely, you will need to re-draw all of your old slides.  This will make your talk much more professional and consistent.  Use Chem Draw 8.0 or higher on a MacIntosh.  Please compile these in Powerpoint by copy and paste methods from the original ChemDraw files.  Do all resizing within the Powerpoint program.  For the presentation please use powerpoint.

*note:  If you are unable to give your group meeting due to a conflict, it is your responsibility to reschedule with someone else in the lab.  Please notify me of all changes in a timely manner.

R = Research

L = Literature

*note that the former pattern of alternating research and lit meetings does not always apply.

Stoltz Group Sub-Group Meeting Schedule:

These meetings will take place in 356 Crellin unless otherwise notified.  This schedule will start the week of September 20, 2004.

There are four sub-groups (1-4) and each is divided into two halves (A and B).  The meeting times are below.  Presentations will alternate between A and B every week (i.e., you will present every other week).  I would encourage these presentations to be highly informal (hand drawn overheads) and approximately 15 min in length.  Please make enough copies of your overheads for your subgroup and an extra copy for the "group file".

All of the meetings are open to anyone in the group.  We will mix-up the subgroups in about 6-12 months.
